The first line of the dialog shows you the bit version.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1674056007228{margin-bottom: 40px !important;}&#8221;]Based on the installed operation mode (32Bit or 64Bit) of your MS Office, there are different requirements for running the WSCAD software in 64Bit.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"margin-bottom: 16px;\">WSCAD system requirements when using 64Bit Office Click-2-Run<\/h4>\n<p><strong>ELECTRIX:<br \/>\n<\/strong>When using MS Office 2019 (except volume licenses), 2021 or 365 in 64Bit, ELECTRIX does <strong><u>not<\/u><\/strong> require any additional Office \/ Access components!<br \/>\nWhen using MS Office 2013 or 2016, an additional Access Database Engine or Runtime is required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SUITE:<\/strong><br \/>\nAn Access Database Engine or Runtime is <strong><u>always<\/u><\/strong> required.<\/p>\n<h4>WSCAD system requirements when using 64Bit Office as MSI installation<\/h4>\n<p>An Access Database Engine or Runtime is only required if MS Office does not include Access.<\/p>\n<h4>WSCAD system requirements when using 32Bit-Office<\/h4>\n<p>ELECTRIX and\/or SUITE in 64Bit:<br \/>\nAn Access Database Engine or Runtime in 64Bit is <strong><u>always<\/u><\/strong> required.<\/p>\n<p><b>Microsoft and WSCAD recommend to install Office in 64Bit.<\/b><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/choose-between-the-64-bit-or-32-bit-version-of-office-2dee7807-8f95-4d0c-b5fe-6c6f49b8d261\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Choose between the 64Bit or 32Bit version of Office<\/a><\/p>\n<p><u>Switch Microsoft Office from 32Bit to 64Bit<br \/>\n<\/u>First uninstall all installed components of the Microsoft Office family, <strong>including<\/strong> Project, Visio, Microsoft Access Database Engine, Microsoft Access Runtime.<\/p>\n<p><u>Then reinstall Office in 64Bit:<\/u><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/office\/download-and-install-or-reinstall-microsoft-365-or-office-2021-on-a-pc-or-mac-4414eaaf-0478-48be-9c42-23adc4716658\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download and install or reinstall Microsoft Office on a PC or Mac<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1674662925616{margin-bottom: 40px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3 style=\"margin-bottom: 20px;\">Installing components required for WSCAD<\/h3>\n<p>If you need an Access component according to the system requirements listed above, please install one of the following components, taking into account the conflicts listed here:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"gelbe_bulletpointliste\">\n<li>Microsoft Access Runtime 2013 in 64Bit<br \/>\nDo not install in parallel with Microsoft Office 2013!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=39358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download-Link<\/a><br \/>\nEnd of support on April 11, 2023<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Access Runtime or Database Engine 2016 in 64Bit<br \/>\nDo not install in parallel with Microsoft Office 2016\/2019\/2021 or 365!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=50040\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download-Link Runtime 2016<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=54920\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download-Link Database Engine 2016<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Access Runtime or Database Engine 2010 in 64Bit<br \/>\nDo not install in parallel with MS Office 2010!<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=10910\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download-Link Runtime 2010<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/download\/details.aspx?id=13255\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Download-Link Database Engine 2010<\/a><br \/>\nEnd of support on October 13, 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also find the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 in 32Bit and 64Bit (recognizable by the file name ending &#8220;_x64&#8221;) in the REDIST directory of a WSCAD installation \/ a WSCAD installation archive (.zip) at<br \/>\n<code>REDIST\\Acess2010<\/code><\/p>\n<p>If you are using SUITE X PLUS the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 can be found under<br \/>\n<code>REDIST\\Acess2016<\/code><\/p>\n<p>The Microsoft Access Database Engine 2007 (32Bit only) can be found in the directory<br \/>\n<code>REDIST<\/code><\/p>\n<p>You absolutely need the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 or 2007 in 32Bit, <strong>if<\/strong> you still want to use WSCAD SUITE 2018 (or older) for importing WSCAD 5.x projects or to use WSCAD 5.x itself. In these cases, select another Database Engine or Runtime in 64Bit for use in newer SUITE or ELECTRIX versions.<\/p>\n<p>If a third party software you are using also requires one of the above components in 32Bit, please check if this software can be switched to 64Bit or run on another system.<br \/>\nIf both is not possible, select another component for WSCAD, because the same components or several components with the same version may not be installed at the same time in 64Bit and 32Bit!<\/p>\n<p>Fluke DMS is a third-party software frequently used by our customers and requires a 32Bit component:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"gelbe_bulletpointliste\">\n<li>Fluke DMS 1.9 and higher requires Access Runtime 2013 in 32Bit with Microsoft Office in 64Bit.<\/li>\n<li>Fluke DMS 1.8 and older requires Access Runtime 2010 in 32Bit with Microsoft Office in 64Bit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First eliminate any conflicts detected on the basis of the table above, e.g. by uninstalling Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 if Microsoft Office 2016\/2019\/2021 or 365 is installed at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Then first install the runtime selected according to the scheme above. In case of multiple runtimes, install the newer one first.<\/p>\n<p>Then install the Access Database Engine(s) selected according to the scheme above, starting with the newest ones.<\/p>\n<p>If you have previously installed Microsoft Office and Access Runtimes in mixed mode 32Bit &amp; 64Bit, you must install the selected Access Database Engine(s) via the command line as described below.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1674059298185{margin-bottom: 40px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3>Installation of an Access Database Engine via command line<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the Windows logo in the taskbar and start typing &#8220;Command Prompt&#8221;. The input field will not appear until you start typing.<br \/>\nOnce the &#8220;Command Prompt&#8221; is displayed, right-click on it and select &#8220;Run as administrator&#8221;.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_01_EN.jpg\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[gallery-8qa7]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"bild_in_liste alignnone wp-image-3256\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_01_EN.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"501\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>In the command prompt, first change to the directory where the Access Database Engine(s) were downloaded with &#8220;CD \/D&#8221;, e.g.<br \/>\n<code>CD \/D C:\\Users\\WSCAD-User\\Downloads<\/code><\/li>\n<li>Start typing &#8220;acc&#8221;. By pressing the tab key \u21b9 you can now scroll through the files in the directory until the complete name of the downloaded installation program appears in the input line.<\/li>\n<li>Add a space and then the command line switch &#8220;\/quiet&#8221;, e.g.<br \/>\n<code>accessdatabaseengine_X64.exe \/quiet<\/code><\/li>\n<li>Your input should look like this::<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_02_EN.png\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[gallery-8qa7]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"bild_in_liste alignnone wp-image-3258\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_02_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"502\" height=\"135\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Start the installation by pressing the enter key.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1674205464049{margin-bottom: 40px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3>Start the WSCAD SUITE \/ ELECTRIX in 64-bit mode<\/h3>\n<h4>Desktop-Symbol<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>On your desktop, right-click on the existing WSCAD SUITE \/ ELECTRIX icon and select the <strong>Properties<\/strong> menu item.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Shortcut<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Target<\/strong> field, add the suffix <code> -64<\/code> (with a space before the suffix), e.g., <code>C:\\WSCAD\\WSCAD SUITE\\2019\\STARTSUITE.exe \u2013s -64<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Shortcut in the Start menu (Programs\/Apps)<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the Windows logo in the start bar.<\/li>\n<li>Type &#8220;WSCAD&#8221; to filter for WSCAD shortcuts.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on the shortcut you want to change and select &#8220;Open file location&#8230;&#8221;.<br \/>\nAn explorer window opens with the location of the shortcut, e.g., <code>C:\\ProgramData\\Microsoft\\Windows\\Start Menu\\Programs\\WSCAD SUITE X<\/code><\/li>\n<li>In this new window, right-click again on the shortcut you want to change and select the <strong>Properties<\/strong> menu item.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Shortcut<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Target<\/strong> field, add the suffix <code> -64<\/code> (with a space before the suffix), e.g., <code>C:\\WSCAD\\WSCAD SUITE\\2019\\STARTSUITE.exe \u2013s -64<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Shortcut in the start menu (pinned apps) or in the taskbar<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Right-click on the existing WSCAD shortcut in <strong>Start<\/strong> or in the taskbar.<\/li>\n<li>Click on &#8220;Unpin from Start&#8221; or on &#8220;Unpin from Taskbar\u201c.<\/li>\n<li>Right-click on an already modified WSCAD shortcut on the desktop or in the <strong>Start menu<\/strong> and then left-click on &#8220;Pin to Start&#8221; or &#8220;Pin to Taskbar&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1674059547844{margin-bottom: 40px !important;}&#8221;]\n<h3>Fixing problems in the Access driver<\/h3>\n<p>Microsoft updates can cause damage to the Access drivers installed in the system, especially if the conflicts mentioned in the component list have not been taken into account.<\/p>\n<p>Such problems can appear as follows:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"gelbe_bulletpointliste\">\n<li>You receive an error message at startup similar to the following<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_03_EN.png\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[gallery-8qa7]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"bild_in_liste alignnone wp-image-3355\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_03_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_03_EN.png 590w, https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_03_EN-300x159.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_03_EN-120x63.png 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 499px) 100vw, 499px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>You cannot change manufacturers or suppliers in the part management.<\/li>\n<li>You receive messages such as &#8220;The object reference was not set to an object instance&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Components cannot be placed or deleted, especially connected components like contacts of coils, terminals, parent and child elements e.g. PLCs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Usually you can solve these problems by performing a quick repair of all installed Access components:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>In the Windows settings (accessible by pressing the Windows key and I), call up <strong>Apps<\/strong> and then <strong>Installed Apps<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Filter for &#8220;365&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the three-dot button and select <strong>Change<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Now select the respective option for the &#8220;Quick Repair&#8221; and perform the repair by clicking <strong>Repair<\/strong> or <strong>Continue<\/strong>.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_04_EN.png\" rel=\"prettyPhoto[gallery-8qa7]\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"bild_in_liste alignnone wp-image-3265\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.wscad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/64bit_04_EN.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"501\" height=\"317\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Repeat step 2 for the search terms &#8220;Office&#8221; and &#8220;Access\u201c.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Note: The quick repair is not available if Office components are installed in mixed mode 64Bit and 32Bit.<br \/>\nStarting with WSCAD ELECTRIX, you will find the &#8220;WSCAD Toolbox&#8221; in the installation directory under &#8220;Tools | WSCAD Toolbox&#8221;, e.g.<br \/>\n<code>C:\\WSCAD\\ELECTRIX\\Tools\\WSCAD-Toolbox<\/code><br \/>\nStart the Toolbox by double-clicking on it.<br \/>\nBy clicking on &#8220;Quickfix&#8221;, the WSCAD Toolbox can perform the quick repair of all found components automatically, even in mixed mode.<br \/>\nIf you already have the toolbox from a previous support contact, the toolbox can also be used to fix the mentioned problems for WSCAD SUITE.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row type=&#8221;in_container&#8221; full_screen_row_position=&#8221;middle&#8221; column_margin=&#8221;default&#8221; column_direction=&#8221;default&#8221; column_direction_tablet=&#8221;default&#8221; column_direction_phone=&#8221;default&#8221; scene_position=&#8221;center&#8221; text_color=&#8221;dark&#8221; text_align=&#8221;left&#8221; row_border_radius=&#8221;none&#8221; row_border_radius_applies=&#8221;bg&#8221; overflow=&#8221;visible&#8221; disable_element=&#8221;yes&#8221; overlay_strength=&#8221;0.3&#8243; gradient_direction=&#8221;left_to_right&#8221; shape_divider_position=&#8221;bottom&#8221; bg_image_animation=&#8221;none&#8221; gradient_type=&#8221;default&#8221;
